The Shemanske family came to St. Pauls Lutheran Church in the fall of 1984 when our oldest daughter, Kristi, began Kindergarten in our Christian Day School. She was followed by Megan, our youngest, in 1987 who attended Mrs. Gottschalks Pre-Kindergarten class. Both girls attended St. Pauls through 8th Grade and then moved on to graduate from Martin Luther High School in Greendale. This allowed our family the blessing to be involved in youth activities at our church as well as many school activities including basketball tournaments, chaperoning field trips, and helping in our childrens classrooms. As Megan entered 1st Grade, I was asked to be the Kindergarten aide and served in that position for two years before becoming the Kindergarten teacher (a position I shared with Barb Heimsoth for ten years). This is my seventeenth year as kindergarten teacher. I was born and raised in Kenosha and attended school there through my graduation from U.W. Parkside. From there I came to West Allis in 1973 to teach at Horace Mann Jr. High School. The following summer Paul and I were married when he finished his M.B.A. degree at U.W. Madison. I later completed my colloquy degree from Concordia University Wisconsin. Our Kindergarten program includes a daily Jesus time as well as a comprehensive reading and math curriculum. It is a traditional classroom setting filled with many hands-on activities and emphasizes a program to prepare little ones academically and socially for 1st Grade and beyond. |
