St. Pauls Sunday School St. Pauls Sunday
School is dedicated in proclaiming the Gospel message to all children and
families; to feed and guide His lambs by teaching Gods abundant love and
grace; to nurture the whole family towards a living relationship with Christ
and His church. Who is the head of the Sunday
school program? Miss Marsch, who has been the
superintendent for fifteen years, coordinates the program. She got involved in
the Sunday school program when she began teaching a Kindergarten class. Miss
Marsch also chooses most of the craft ideas taught in our classes. The stories the children learn
from the Bible are taught according to a schedule from the Concordia Publishing
program, and they follow a three-year plan. Miss Ruth is in charge of buying
the toys and treasures the children receive throughout the year. She gets most
of her ideas from the Northwest Christian store display cases. These items are
purchased with money from St. Pauls church. Who is eligible to attend classes?
How can I join? All children are welcome to attend
classes, and are encouraged to bring a friend along with them. Make plans to
attend, and ask a friend to come with you next week! Who are the teachers and
assistants? Teachers and assistants are
active, faithful church members who are willing to make a commitment to the
Lord in sharing His word. They are not scholars or professional educators; they
are people who enjoy helping children grow in faith. Anyone interested should
contact Miss Marsch. Theres always room for another helper! What age groups are taught, and
what do they learn? Two and three year olds are read
stories from the Bible, given a prayer book, taught to sing simple songs,
helped with projects using crayons and stickers, and given lessons from Morris
the Mouse puppet. Parents are very much involved in the class. While the
children enjoy snack and play time, parents discuss raising a Christian child.
The class meets in the Parish Hall. Four and five year olds hear
stories from the teacher, work on handout sheets with drawings and puzzles, and
make different crafts and projects. 1st and 2nd
graders get handout sheets, learn from puppets, and make crafts and projects.
They also memorize the Lords Prayer and the Ten Commandments. Third, fourth, and fifth graders
meet and read from the Bible and work on handout sheets that help them
understand what they read. Sixth, seventh,
and eighth graders meet and do a variety of things. Bible stories remembered
from the past are revisited, and the students memories are tested as the
stories are discussed in more detail. Discussions are held about how Gods word
fits into todays world. This group is also encouraged to help those in other
classes whenever necessary. |
